This colourful art print transports the viewer back to a nostalgic time in the Irish countryside. It is Ideal for collectors of Irish rural landscape art or nature-inspired gifts celebrating Irish heritage.
The scene depicts my dad’s relatives’ (Millars) farm on the Kilbroney Road, Rostrevor and was painted as a gift for him on his 80th birthday. He had early onset dementia and remembered the farm being filmed frequently on TV. The farm has long since been demolished but the road is still used today in TV adverts on Northern Ireland’s produce and documentaries about the Mourne Mountains.
The painting opened up stories from my dad of rounding up sheep, gathering in the hay and playing cards in the evening before cycling down that road, home. Other local insights claimed that it used to be an inn, further back in history, where carriages would stop on their journey to rest their horses and have horseshoes replaced.
